I've found a new must-stop-at restaurant in San Antonio! They only serve Al pastor tacos and when you do one thing so very well it's a great decision. I went with traditional - I don't need cheese to make a taco complete. The meat was tender, juicy and flavorful. Each taco came with a bit of slow roasted pineapple. Staff brought an assortment of salsas with the tacos. I enjoyed trying all of them (spicy to very spicy) with my lunch.

Top notch! Wow! The best trompo tacos I've had in SA Texas. Absolutely amazing! We all ordered the gringas and were blown away. They come with this amazing cheese on flour. Each bite was full of flavor. The hot sauces were top notch. They ran out of Mexican cokes. So I went with a strawberry Jarritos. I would definitely keep coming back here. The parking situation is tight. We took an Uber here. The staff here is amazing. Carlos was real nice. I will be back here soon. Top notch tacos.

Small but clean & friendly service. They have bigger, flour tortillas but I like the classic yellow corn. It's really on the trompo and soooo delicious. Authentic flavor and variety of salsas for everyone's preference. They also have beer and sodas, glass bottle cokes and Jarritos.

Nice little spot and was my first time, so amazing the food and the cook He even broke it down for me based on what I was hungry for. Definitely will be a spot I visit when I'm in Town.

It's rare in my travels I go back to a restaurant multiple times in one trip. It's typically a sign of something special and Taqueria Los Cuates is no exception. They specialize in authentic Al Pastor tacos. They have a few modifications, some drinks and a dessert, but this restaurant is solely about the Al Pastor taco experience. The juicy and succulent pork pairs with the traditional pineapple and one of their salsas creating one of the best tacos out there. The light green sauce has a good heat level for the spice fans and all 4 add a nice highlight of flavor to the tacos. The restaurant is small and straightforward, no frills and the staff is nice. First time I came there was a bit of a wait during a rush, but it was well worth it. Try these tacos!

This is taste bud heaven! I ordered the gringo tacos (Al pastor with cheese on a flour tortilla). I didn't notice a size difference between corn and flour tortillas but the tacos with flour tortillas are a dollar extra. The tacos are pretty small so you'll probably need 3-5 to get full. The menu is very straightforward and al pastor is the specialty. Be sure to give your limes a generous squeeze and use the salsas provided to add the perfect mix of citrus and spiciness. The wait time was a little longer than I expected given the amount of patrons and the simplicity of the menu but the food was well worth the wait. The restaurant is open late so it is perfect for a late night bite. Overall, I had a positive dining experience and I highly recommend.

I was attending a conference at the convention center and wanted to grab a quick lunch that was off the Riverwalk. I found this small taco joint just a 10-minute walk away. They offer a very limited menu, but the tacos were outstanding. I am a big fan of street tacos and these did not disappoint. They only serve Al Pastor, but they were delicious. They were served with finely chopped white onions, cilantro, and a very thin slice of pineapple. Four salsas accompanied my tacos. So good! The server/chef was very friendly. The shop looks newly renovated and was very comfortable. I highly recommend stepping away from the riverwalk to try these tacos.

We stopped by Los Cuates today for lunch. I read a few reviews and I want to set the expectations before you visit: 1. The menu is simple. The best Trompo style Al Pastor tacos north of the border. I will not be taking any questions. If you want asada tacos, Karens, you have plenty of other options in this city. 2. This isn't Tex-Mex. This is Mexico City style street tacos. A lot of people in San Antonio complain that they want more authentic Mexican options and when they get one, they are shocked that something is not on the menu. 3. The ambiance is very chill and the service is prompt. I especially appreciate that they bring you a variety of salsas to your table when they bring your food out. Overall, Southtown is very lucky to finally have a phenomenal street taco restaurant and it's open late.
